There's plenty going on in our high streets, towns and city centres to celebrate and get excited about, and you can be a part of this. Local groups, such as Town Teams and Town Centre Partnerships, are helping to reconnect our public spaces with their local communities.
The work of these groups is so much more than painting benches or running great events (although this does help). Each represents a new wave of interest in our local centres from the bottom-up; local businesses, owned and used by members of the immediate community, are coming together, often for the first time, to discuss what affects their area and how together they can help, while Local Authorities are beginning to recognise this enthusiasm as a key resources to drive positive change and reintroduce the community to their high street.
The Association of Town & City Management (ATCM), through funding from the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government (MHCLG), is supporting local partnership teams move from start-up to stability; we're helping people discover the benefits of place management, of creating shared visions for their area, taking them on practical journeys to make their ambitions realities, and perhaps most importantly of all, showing them that great ideas do not have to cost the earth.
If you want to get involved, please get in touch with ATCM and they will help connect you.
