In Amble, the local businesses and community work together to deliver events such as a Puffin Festival, with walks, talks and activities based around the endangered seabird. On Mauretania Day businesses carry out random acts of kindness to customers visiting their premises offering a small gift, voucher or discount on purchases. Amble’s community demonstrates a caring culture of personal service, with families and businesses working together to provide opportunities for everybody to interact. This includes dementia workshops, and a Good Young Citizens Award which recognises young members of the community who carry out good deeds. They also have a Litterbugs group which undertakes litter picking in the town. Amble is proposing innovative ways to attract more visitors to the town, with plans for a Bird Sculpture Trail, which will incorporate virtual reality.
