Working together to deliver the Lisburn Light Festival has been a real boost for the Lisburn City community. The events, music and light displays on Bow Street encouraged businesses and local communities to get involved, and the whole event drove up footfall and increased civic pride. The success of the festival has since inspired more community projects including pocket parks (where vacant and derelict sites are given some TLC), giving an unloved alleyway an arty makeover with murals from local art students. There has also been the introduction of an online shop local scheme – Love Lisburn – where offers and promotions are provided to customers by local businesses, and promoted by churches and community groups. A Ranger service has also been developed to ensure the safe, clean and green areas are maintained and improved to support the high street.
As events and initiatives grow, they are promoted through various digital platforms that engage a wider and new audience, who can then enjoy what the Lisburn High Street has to offer.
