In recent years Portadown has transformed into a welcoming shared space to be enjoyed by all sections of the community. This has been strengthened by initiatives such as the annual Twilight Markets, Portadown’s Got Talent and Respect Through Sport which help grow a sense of pride and belonging. Additional events include Stylefest, with fashion shows and beauty masterclasses, Country Comes to Town, which celebrates all things agricultural, and the Portadown Regatta, a boating event on the River Bann. Environmental initiatives include a school education programme, e-car charging points and a new park-and-ride facility. The council is also investing in Portadown’s aesthetics, with plans to capitalise on the River Bann as a valued asset through increased lighting, seating and landscaping. A series of workshops and one-to-one mentoring has equipped local businesses with the digital skills needed to thrive.
