Despite being Wales’ oldest town, Carmarthen is an innovative, dynamic and digital town. Better web presence for small traders, a digital map of the town and videos are all tools being used to promote the high street. Carmarthen Food offers local traders an online platform to sell local produce and the ‘Food Friday’ street market has increased the buzz on the high street. Additionally, various initiatives are in place to improve accessibility on the high street for disabled customers and small businesses offer employment opportunities for customers with learning difficulties. Green Scope, a zero-waste shop, has opened and other green programmes include a reusable cup and hanging basket scheme. Carmarthen has also taken steps to re-develop the local velodrome and the Nurture Centre has been instrumental in championing health and well-being in the town.
