Rochdale is raring to go. Already in progress is the revival of the famous Drake Street, delivered via the Heritage Action Zone. Plans include the creation of 200 new homes and the renovation of a number of historic buildings.
High profile business schemes include discounts and start-up grants for independent retailers – crucial help that’s allowed 30 new businesses set up in town.
'Virtual Rochdale' is also underway. Using next generation technology, the town’s attractions and businesses can be showcased to visitors.
Guaranteed to inspire kids, a national museum is coming to town next year too. Other initiatives include the continued ban on single use plastics at the ‘Street Eat’ festival, the upcoming Uprising Mural Festival showcasing local and international talent, the launch of air benches covered in ivy to help air quality, and of course the launch of new retail and leisure development, Riverside, opening next year.
