The ‘Talk of Tankerton’ was set up by two business owners to provide projects and free community events in Tankerton, including an Easter trail, Pirate Treasure Hunt, Tankerton Circus Fair and a safe ‘Trick ‘O’ Treat’ night on Halloween (where shops give away sweets to children). A new event, ‘Santa Cruise’ sees owners of festively decorated classic cars delivering children’s presents, and food for the local food bank. Tankerton achieved a whole Christmas light display last year, bought and installed by local businesses, and also held a ‘Fairytale Fair’ for the children. This year will see their first ever Christmas lights switch on event. Tankerton continues to work on its environment, securing funding to build twelve new planters on the high street, filled with high pollinators to help the local bee and insect population. Businesses are actively encouraged to maintain their shopfronts, keeping weeds at bay and removing litter, all adding to the destination appeal. Plus work is also being done on a map of Tankerton, hand drawn by a local resident.
